A toilet is used more than any other fixture in the house, so it’s no surprise it’s one of the most common repair calls we get. Worthey Plumbing repairs, replaces and installs toilets for homes and businesses across Rossmoor, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Long Beach and Huntington Beach, along with Cypress, Westminster, Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Lakewood and Cerritos.
A running toilet is more than an annoying sound. A worn flapper or a bad fill valve can waste a surprising amount of water every day, and you’ll see it on your bill. We replace flappers, fill valves, flush valves and handles, and adjust the water level so the toilet flushes properly and shuts off completely.
Leaks at the base of the toilet usually mean the wax ring has failed or the closet flange is broken. Left alone, that leak rots the subfloor and can stain the ceiling below in a two-story home. We pull the toilet, replace the seal, repair the flange if needed and reset it solidly.
Leaks between the tank and bowl come from worn tank bolts and gaskets. Cracked tanks or bowls can’t be safely repaired and need replacement.
We also fix weak flushes, toilets that rock, and toilets that won’t stop clogging.
Most clogs clear with a plunger. When they don’t, the blockage is usually deeper in the trap or the drain line. We use a toilet auger to clear the trap without scratching the porcelain. If the toilet clogs again and again, or other drains in the house back up at the same time, the problem is likely in the main line. In that case we’ll recommend drain cleaning or a camera inspection to find the cause.
If your toilet is cracked, constantly needs repairs or is an older model that uses a lot of water per flush, replacement often makes sense. California requires new toilets to use no more than 1.28 gallons per flush, and today’s high-efficiency models flush better than the low-flow toilets of the 1990s. We install standard, comfort height, one-piece, wall-hung and bidet-seat models, and we can install a toilet you’ve purchased or help you choose one.
Every installation includes a new wax ring or seal, new supply line and shutoff check, secure mounting and a test for leaks. We haul away the old toilet when we’re done.
If the porcelain is sound and the problem is a part inside the tank, repair is usually the better value. Cracks, repeated clogs or very old fixtures point toward replacement.
That's called phantom flushing. Water is slowly leaking from the tank into the bowl, usually past a worn flapper, and the fill valve kicks on to refill it.
Most installations take a couple of hours, unless the flange or subfloor needs repair.
