Trenchless Sewer Repair and Replacement in Long Beach and Los Alamitos

A broken sewer line used to mean a long trench across the front yard, through the landscaping and sometimes under the driveway. Trenchless methods change that. In many cases we can repair or replace your sewer line through one or two small access points, which saves your yard and usually shortens the job.

Worthey Plumbing provides trenchless sewer repair and full sewer line replacement for homes and businesses in Rossmoor, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Long Beach, Huntington Beach and nearby cities like Cypress, Westminster and Garden Grove.

Why Sewer Lines Fail in Our Area

Many homes here still have their original clay or cast iron sewer lines. Clay pipe has joints every few feet, and tree roots find their way into those joints looking for water. Cast iron corrodes from the inside and eventually cracks or flakes apart. Shifting soil can also cause a line to sag or separate. The result is repeat backups, slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors and, in bad cases, soggy patches in the yard.

It Starts With a Camera Inspection

We don’t guess about sewer lines. Every trenchless job starts with a sewer video inspection so we can see the pipe material, the condition of each section and the exact location and depth of any damage. You’ll see the footage too, and we’ll explain what it shows. That inspection tells us whether the line is a candidate for trenchless repair or needs traditional excavation.

Pipe Lining

Cured-in-place pipe lining, often called CIPP, creates a new pipe inside the old one. After the line is cleaned with hydro jetting, we pull a resin-saturated liner into place and cure it. The liner hardens into a smooth, jointless pipe that seals cracks and root entry points. Lining works well for pipes that are cracked or leaking but still holding their shape.

Pipe Bursting

When a pipe is too damaged to line, pipe bursting replaces it entirely. A bursting head is pulled through the old line, breaking it apart and pushing the fragments into the surrounding soil while a new HDPE pipe is pulled in right behind it. You get a brand new sewer line with only small access pits at each end.

When Traditional Repair Makes More Sense

Trenchless isn’t the answer for every line. A short, shallow section, a fully collapsed pipe or a line with a severe belly may be faster and cheaper to dig and replace. We’ll give you an honest comparison of both approaches, with a written quote for each when it makes sense.

Trenchless Sewer FAQs

Both lining and HDPE pipe are designed to last for decades, far longer than the clay or cast iron they replace.

A properly installed liner has no joints for roots to enter, which is one of the main reasons homeowners choose it.

The repair itself can cost more, but you often save on landscaping, concrete and hardscape restoration. The total is frequently similar or lower.

Repeat backups, multiple slow drains and roots that come back after cleaning are all signs. A camera inspection will give you a clear answer.
